What to Expect from Your Earwax Removal Appointment
Your earwax removal experience will be customised for your comfort and unique needs. Here's what you can expect from your visit.

Initial Consultation & Medical History
You are at the center of our care. Your audiologist or practitioner will review your medical history and discuss any symptoms you’re experiencing, such as hearing loss, ear pain, dizziness, or ringing in your ears. Your comfort and consent matter at every step.
Otoscopy Examination
Your practitioner will carefully examine your ears using a medical otoscope. This allows you to know exactly what’s happening inside your ear canals and understand the extent of wax buildup. We also check behind your ears for a comprehensive assessment.
Method Selection: Microsuction or Irrigation
You benefit from the safest and most effective method for your ears. Your practitioner will discuss both microsuction (a gentle, precise suction technique) and traditional irrigation.
The right approach is chosen based on your wax’s consistency, your ear canal’s shape, and your medical background. In some cases, a combination of methods delivers optimal results.
Earwax Removal Procedure
You’ll be seated comfortably in a supportive, rotational chair. Throughout the process, your consent and comfort are our priorities. Your practitioner will check in regularly to ensure you feel at ease, and any discomfort will be addressed right away.
Aftercare & Follow-Up
Once your ears are cleared, your practitioner will perform a follow-up examination. This step checks for any remaining wax and screens for signs of infection behind the wax. You’ll receive thorough aftercare instructions, such as keeping your ears dry for at least three days and avoiding putting anything (even fingers) into your ears, to protect your results and hearing health.
